Who is responsible for your information
Wheel Repair Ltd is the data controller. That means the decisions about what is collected and why are ours.

What we collect, and when
When you ask for a price. The quote form asks for your name and a telephone number, and lets you add an email address, a description of the vehicle, what is wrong with the wheels and how many need doing. You can attach a photograph. The form also records which page you were on when you sent it, and your IP address.
When you use the contact form. Your name, email address, a subject and your message.
When you message on WhatsApp or ring. Whatever you tell us, plus the number you are calling or messaging from. WhatsApp messages sit on your phone and ours and are handled by WhatsApp under its own terms.
When you simply read the site. Our host keeps standard server logs, and the site uses analytics, which is covered further down.
Photographs of your wheels
A photograph of a wheel often has more in it than the wheel. It can show the number plate, the driveway, the street. We treat the photographs you send as part of your enquiry and nothing else.
They are not published, not put on social media and not used in any advertising unless you have said yes to that specifically, in writing, for that photograph. Attachments are stored with the enquiry and removed on the same schedule.
Why we are allowed to hold it
For an enquiry, the lawful basis is that we are taking steps at your request before entering into a contract. You asked for a price, so we need your details to give you one.
For a job we have actually done, it is the contract itself, and then our legal obligation to keep accounting records.
For analytics and for keeping the site working, the basis is our legitimate interest in knowing which pages are useful and in keeping the site secure. You can object to that, and the section on your rights explains how.
How long it is kept
Enquiries that do not turn into work: twenty four months, then deleted. Long enough to recognise a returning customer, short enough not to be hoarding.
Jobs we have done: six years after the end of the relevant financial year, because HMRC requires business records to be kept that long.
Photographs: deleted with the enquiry or the job record they belong to.
Server logs: kept by our host on its own schedule.
Who else sees it
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing. A small number of suppliers handle it on our behalf, because that is how the website runs:
- Hostinger, which hosts the website and our email.
- Google, for website analytics and Search Console. Analytics tells us which pages people read. It is not used to identify anyone.
- WhatsApp, part of Meta, if you choose to message us that way.
- Instagram, part of Meta, which supplies the photo feed on the site. Looking at the feed is covered by Meta’s own privacy terms.
- Google Reviews, where reviews shown on the site are published by the people who wrote them, on Google, not by us.
We will also hand information over if the law requires it.
Where it is held
The website and its data are hosted in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area. Some of the suppliers above are United States companies and may process information outside the UK. Where that happens it is covered by the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or by UK adequacy regulations.
Cookies
The site sets a small number of cookies. Some are needed for it to work at all: they keep a form from being submitted twice and remember that you have a session. Those cannot be switched off without breaking the site.
Google Analytics sets cookies that count visits and tell us which pages are read. You can block cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s own browser add-on.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete it, where we do not have to keep it for tax or legal reasons
- stop using it for a particular purpose, or restrict what we do with it
- hand it to you, or to someone else, in a portable format
Ask by emailing info@wheelrepairltd.co.uk or ringing 07922 222272. There is nothing to pay, and we will answer within one month.
If you are not happy with how we have handled it
Tell us first and we will try to put it right. If you are still unhappy you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, which regulates data protection in the United Kingdom.
