Alloy Wheel Repair in Wanstead
Wheel Repair Ltd refurbishes alloy wheels at its workshop on Nursery Lane in Forest Gate, about two miles from Wanstead. Bring the car or the wheels in. Where there is a driveway, a mobile visit works for painted finishes.
Why Wanstead drivers use us
Wheels are refinished properly, not touched up on the kerb.
Faces re-machined on a lathe, not painted over.
A machined face is re-cut on a lathe and lacquered again. Painting over it is quicker and it never looks right, so we do not do it that way.

What people say
The damage we see most in Wanstead
Bigger wheels, machined faces. There are more large diamond cut wheels around Wanstead than in most of the areas we cover, and a machined face cannot be touched in with paint. It goes on the lathe, which is why that work comes to the workshop.
High Street parking. Angled bays along the High Street and a kerb that is higher than it looks. A wide wheel on a low profile tyre catches it where a smaller one would clear.
The Green Man roundabout and the approaches. Fast, busy and patched in places. A rim that drops into a bad joint at that speed comes away bent, not scratched.

Covering Wanstead
- Wanstead High Street
- Overton Drive
- Nightingale Lane
- Blake Hall Road
- St Mary’s Avenue
- George Green
Wanstead is about two miles from the workshop, up past Harrow Green or round by Blake Hall Road. Unlike most of the area, a good many houses here have a driveway, which makes a mobile visit genuinely workable for a painted finish. A diamond cut face still has to come to Nursery Lane, because the lathe does not travel. We will tell you which yours is from a photograph before anyone sets off.
Common questions
Do you cover Wanstead and E11?
Yes. The workshop is on Nursery Lane in Forest Gate, about two miles away, and we cover Wanstead, Snaresbrook and the streets around George Green.
I have a driveway. Can you come to me?
For a painted finish, usually yes, as long as there is level ground and room to get round the car. A diamond cut face cannot be done on site because it has to go on a lathe at the workshop. Send a photograph and we will tell you which you have.
My wheels are diamond cut. How many times can they be re-cut?
Each cut takes a thin layer off the face, so there is a limit, and it belongs to the wheel rather than to us. We will look at yours and tell you where it is before doing anything.
Can you match the original finish?
On a factory diamond cut face, yes, because it is machined back to bare metal and re-lacquered. On a wheel somebody else has already refinished, we will say honestly what we can and cannot match before starting.
The steering shakes after the Green Man. What is that?
Usually a buckled rim. It comes off and goes on a jig so we can see how far out it is, and we will tell you whether it straightens or whether it is cracked as well.
What do you need from me to give a price?
A daylight photo of each wheel that needs doing, taken from straight in front, and what the car is. Enough to put a written price on it without anyone guessing.
Is a kerbed diamond cut wheel worth doing, or should I replace it?
Almost always worth doing, as long as the face has enough metal left and the rim is not cracked. A replacement from the dealer costs a great deal more. We will tell you if yours is the exception.
Do you cover Snaresbrook and South Woodford?
Snaresbrook yes, it is the same side of the flats. South Woodford as well, although it is a little further out. Ask and we will tell you straight.
