Four miles away, E8 and E5
Alloy Wheel Repair in Hackney
Wheel Repair Ltd refurbishes alloy wheels at its workshop on Nursery Lane in Forest Gate, about four miles from Hackney. Most E8 customers come across and leave the car with us, because parking at the Hackney end rarely allows anything else.
Why Hackney drivers use us
Wheels are refinished properly, not touched up on the kerb.
Faces re-machined on a lathe, not painted over.
A rim scraped along its length looks worse than a single kerb bite and is usually the simpler job of the two, as long as the wheel is straight and not cracked.

What people say
The damage we see most in Hackney
Narrow streets, both sides parked. Through London Fields and the streets off Graham Road there is barely a car’s width left between parked rows. Easing past something coming the other way is how most Hackney rims get scraped.
Segregated cycle kerbs and bus gates. E8 is full of raised separators and narrow gaps, often unlit and set at an angle. A wheel that clips one takes a scrape down the outer rim rather than a single scuff.
Mare Street and Lower Clapton Road. Both busy, both patched, both with sunken covers. That is where the buckles come from rather than the kerbs.

Covering Hackney
- Mare Street
- Dalston Lane
- Graham Road
- Kingsland Road
- London Fields
- Lower Clapton Road
Hackney is about four miles west of the workshop. Almost nothing in E8 has off street parking and the permit bays are full, so a mobile visit very rarely works and we would rather say that now than turn up and find out. Most Hackney customers drive across and leave the car at Nursery Lane, or bring the wheels down on their own in the boot.
Common questions
Do you cover Hackney, E8 and E5?
Yes, including Dalston, London Fields and up towards Lower Clapton. The workshop is on Nursery Lane in Forest Gate, about four miles east.
I have no driveway and the street is permit only. Can you come out?
Honestly, in most of E8, no. We need somewhere safe and legal to work, off the public highway. Bringing the car to Nursery Lane, or just the wheels, is the practical answer.
I scraped the rim squeezing past a cycle kerb. Is that repairable?
Usually yes. A scrape along the outer rim is a refinish, as long as the wheel is not buckled or cracked with it. Send a photograph taken straight on.
Can I bring the wheels without the car?
Yes, and from four miles away it is often the easiest thing to do. Put the damaged ones in the boot and bring them down on their own.
The steering shakes since Mare Street. What is that?
Usually a buckled rim. It comes off and goes on a jig so we can see how far out it is, and we will tell you whether it straightens or whether it is cracked as well.
What do you need from me to give a price?
The make and model, and a photo of every damaged wheel taken square on. Daylight rather than a streetlight, because the colour matters. We will come back with a written price.
Is it worth coming four miles for one wheel?
That is your call, and we would rather you asked than wasted the trip. Send a photo first. If it is not worth doing we will say so and you will not have moved the car.
Do you cover Stratford and Leyton as well?
Yes, both, and they are on the way across from Hackney.
