The damage we see most in Stratford

01

Car park ramps. The Westfield decks and E20 undercrofts turn tight with a raised kerb line, and it is usually the same quarter of the same wheel.

02

Lease cars heading back. Stratford runs young, and a scuff ignored for two years becomes a charge on the final invoice.

03

Diamond cut faces. Newer cars around E20 are full of them, and once the lacquer chips, water gets underneath and spreads.

Covering Stratford

Roads we see most
  • The Broadway
  • Stratford High Street
  • Angel Lane
  • Romford Road
  • Carpenters Estate
  • East Village and Chobham Manor

Around the Broadway and E20, Stratford is mostly flats: controlled bays, undercrofts and almost no driveways. Most E15 and E20 customers drop the car at the workshop in Forest Gate, ten minutes east, and collect it when it is done. Where that is awkward, a mobile visit comes to the bay the car is already in, so you keep your space.

Common questions

Do you charge extra to come out to Stratford?

No. Wheel Repair Ltd works from a workshop in Forest Gate, about two miles away, and if you would rather have a mobile visit there is no call-out fee anywhere in E15 or E20.

Can you repair the wheel where the car is parked in Stratford?

Most Stratford customers drop the car at the unit in Forest Gate, ten minutes east. Where parking or time makes that hard, a mobile visit is an option, and in E15 that is usually a controlled bay or an undercroft space.

Do I have to bring the car, or can you collect the wheels?

Either. Plenty of Stratford customers take the wheels off and bring just those in, which is often the cheapest way to do it. Ask when you ring and we will talk you through the options.

Do you cover East Village and the Olympic Park?

Yes, all of E20 including East Village, Chobham Manor and the Carpenters Estate over in E15. For a mobile visit to an undercroft space, tell us which one so we can check the headroom first.

My lease car goes back soon. Should I get the wheels done first?

Not always. A scuff up to fifty millimetres with the paint intact is usually inside the allowance and costs you nothing. Send a photo and Wheel Repair Ltd will tell you honestly whether it is worth doing before the car goes back.

Can a diamond cut wheel be repaired?

Usually yes. The face is re-machined on a lathe and lacquered again. A diamond cut wheel can only be re-cut a limited number of times before it becomes too thin, at which point it is painted instead.

Do you work on company cars?

Yes. Plenty of Stratford cars are company or lease vehicles, and the repair is the same. If the car has to go back, mention the return date when you send the photo.

Why do diamond cut wheels go cloudy?

Water gets under a chipped lacquer and the bare aluminium underneath oxidises, which shows as a milky patch that spreads. Wheel Repair Ltd strips it back and re-cuts the face on a lathe.
